Workshops

I am currently offering a choice of the following two photo training options in Northamptonshire for photographers who want to use their SLR camera more creatively:

Half day or full day workshop for 1-4 people

One hour 1-2-1 photo lesson

Further Info & Booking

If after reading the information below about my workshops, you decide you'd like to join me for some photography, please complete the form at the bottom of this page by filling out all the required fields and as many of the others as you'd like. I'll use the information you provide to modify the workshop to ensure you get the most out of it, so the more info you give me the better.

I will then be touch with any information you require, available dates or for a chat (if you leave your phone number).

These workshops are only for those using an SLR camera (Single Lens Reflex) - basically a camera with a detachable, changeable lens which you can attach filters to. This type of camera gives the user more control than a compact point and shoot.

As a landscape photographer, I am often away from my office for several days at a time so if I haven't replied to your enquiry within a few days, it's not because I haven't received your email, just that I have escaped from my computer for a while.

If you would like to book a workshop with me, you can do so via phone or email. Payment is required after you have made the booking (please see details below). Confirmation and further details about the workshop will be sent to you following receipt of payment.

If you would like to purchase a workshop as a gift for someone, gift vouchers are available to buy online in the 'shop' or if you prefer you can pay by cheque and I'll post the gift voucher to you or the recipient via snail mail.

Workshop Times - I'm flexible!

I am self employed and work from home and am therefore very flexible with workshop times. It is impossible for me to post a list of dates on my website when I am available for a workshop particularly those on a week day and especially the one hour workshop - as I am basically available every day, often at short notice (any excuse to escape from processing images at my computer for a few hours!). That said, I'm also happy to book workshops months in advance if required. It is far easier for me to work around your work and family commitments. Get your diary out and if you have some free time, why not get in touch.

Payment

There are several methods of payment for a workshop:
  • Purchase online using a credit or debit card via the 'Shop' page
  • Send me a cheque via snail mail
  • Make a bank transfer

  • Half Day or Full Day Photo Workshop in Northampton

Fancy either half a day or a full day out with like minded people practising your photographic technique and experimenting with new ones with no-one telling you to hurry up when you are composing a shot?

This workshop will help you see even the most familiar of places with a photographers eye. Northampton town centre is packed with photogenic buildings and interesting subjects to photograph. You’ll be amazed at how much you’ve been missing and surprised by how many photos you take!

    Overview

  • We will cover the basics of photography including shooting modes, composition (including the rule of thirds), use of filters and other equipment.
  • You’ll be practising your photography as we have a walk about town in a group photographing buildings, details and scenery.

    Full Day Only:
  • Lunch: We’ll take a break for lunch in a pub or café (this is not included in the workshop price).
  • Critique session: If you have some prints you would like me to have a look at and critique, please bring them along and we will look at their merits and discuss ways they might be improved (maximum 5 prints per person)
  • Some more photography.

    Equipment

  • Just bring your usual kit, but most importantly bring your SLR Camera & standard lens – whatever you normally use.
  • A tripod is recommended but not essential.

  • I will forward a list of other equipment you might like to bring with confirmation of your booking. Please don’t go out and buy anything especially for the workshop. I will be bringing all my kit and am happy for you to have a play. I am also happy to advise you on any purchases you might be considering or new purchases that you’re having trouble with.

  • Please wear sensible shoes that you’ll be comfortable walking about in all day.

  • Please Note: Workshop content will vary depending on group size, experience of individuals and the weather. This workshop is suitable for people who love photography and want to share that with other people whilst (hopefully!) learning something and having some fun.

    Other Info

Price: Half Day: £50 per person Full Day: £80 per person
Workshop times: Half Day: 9.30am-1pm Full Day: 9.30am-4.30pm

    Excluded: Lunch & Insurance

    Photo Lesson

Do you (or someone you know) use the automatic 'program' mode on your SLR camera but would like to use the more creative modes?

I am offering a one hour, one-to-one, workshop where I will explain and show you how to take creative control of the images you make using your camera.

Topics covered: Aperture and shutter priority modes, ISO, depth of field, filters and composition.
Meeting Place: Brixworth Country Park (The free car park at the Holcot road side) or Abington Park (near the ice-cream van opposite the church)
Equipment: Your camera & lens and a tripod if you have one....and any other kit you'd like to bring.
Clothing: It can get chilly when you're standing around outside especially by the water so please check the weather forecast and bring a coat, hat, scarf and gloves if necessary!

    Duration: 1 hour
    Price: £40
